VCAL Halloween Event

VCAL Creative hubs team celebrated Halloween Haunted House @Greenbrooke Community House on Monday, 31 October. The event was a huge success with attendance greater than 500 people; we all had a fantastic time. Everyone got into the spirit of Halloween this year, dressing up in their favourite characters to come along and spend time with each other.

During term 3 and 4, our Creative Hubs elective students collaborated with Greenbrook Community House team and Whittlesea Youth Liaison Officer to decorate the Greenbrook house for Halloween. The students enthusiastically participated in all the activities linked to events creation and management, planning, organising and finally delivered this event to our community on 31st October.

Epping Secondary college and Aitken College students demonstrated great perseverance and worked diligently with Greenbrook community house team to decorate the haunting house and getting it ready for the community by 5 pm on the day. They sacrificed their long weekend family plans to deliver this event to the community.

It was a rainy evening and the wind was howling, with scary music in the background everything was going along the Halloween theme. The graveyard and ghost toss activities at the front entrance could not stop the kids and families to enter the haunted house. In first 30 minutes, 200 plus people attended and waited patiently in lines to have their turn for each activity.

In the Foyer, Kaylee, Tia, Ms Chahal (Witches) were ready with slimy cauldron for kids to find the missing key and trade it for the treat. In the hall, Ollie (Pixie) was busy pouring her potions; there were lines of excited kids waiting for their turn for their face painting and the fortune teller. The kids didn’t want to walk past the hall alone, holding tightly to their parents as our Mad Scientist, Hamoudy was waiting for them with a dead body on the bed and lots of body bags on the floor, blood-stained footprints everywhere. This room was too scary for the little ones – with bleeding Mr Freddy, skeleton, it was more for ages 6+. But some brave little ones gave it a shot and were given candies from Hamoudy.

The evening ended amazingly with the pizza party in the haunted house!

Thank you, Antoinette, and Giovanna, Sunshine and Dani, for this exciting initiative and your warm and friendly support for our VCAL students throughout this project. It is very much appreciated.

We are appreciative to our lovely ESC community for encouraging and supporting our students work.
