Upcoming events and more from the P&F

PARENTS AND FRIENDS UPDATE

The Parents & Friends (P&F) Committee is a vital part of the Holy Spirit School community. We work closely with Duncan and his leadership team to support continuous improvement at the school and create an environment where our children can flourish.

Not only are P&F responsible for fostering a spirit of community amongst the families attending the school, we also run a large number of social and fundraising events throughout the year.

So far this year we have organised:

  • Open Air Cinema Night in Term 1
  • Three Food Days (Subway, Cheers Toastie Truck and Okka Pies)
  • The Mother’s Day and Father’s stalls and breakfast
  • The Trivia Night (raised $3173)
  • Second-hand Uniform shop
  • Scholastic Book Club, Kite fundraising drive, Hot Cross Bun drive, Entertainment Book drive, Crazy Camel Art drive
  • Coming soon – The Colour Run!
  • Coming in 2023 – Holy Spirit Book Fair!

We also coordinate social events such as the Mums’ and Dads’ nights out, assist with the Fete, Spirit Day celebrations and many more.

FAQs

  1. How many hours a month do I need to volunteer?

As much or as little as you like! We meet once a month during school terms, currently Tuesday nights for approximately 60mins. We understand that everyone has busy lives so any extra hours you can volunteer for P&F events is gratefully appreciated. (NB: our meeting dates are yet to be confirmed for 2023 but may include a zoom option for those unable to attend in person).

  1. I was on a Kinder Committee and it was full-on! Is P&F the same?

P&F is not as intense as a kinder committee role because we’re not running the school. Our work focusses on fostering the school spirit and making our children’s school experience even more wonderful through social events and fundraising.

  1. I work during the day/I’m caring for younger children, so it’s hard for me to help out during school hours.

That’s ok! Most of the committee are in the same boat. We all do what we can around our other work and personal commitments. You are also welcome to bring younger siblings along when you volunteer for most P&F events.

  1. Can Grandparents help with Volunteering? Yes! We are a Parents and Friends Committee so Grandparents can always come and help. They will need to have their WWC completed and registered with Donna before they can volunteer.
  2. I’ve never been on a Committee and I have no idea if I’d be any good

That’s ok! The best place to start is to come along to a meeting and see what it’s all about. There is no pressure to take on a defined committee position and you are welcome to attend as a General Member (no assigned role). There will also be Officer roles vacant next year so now is a good time to join and find out more about what the jobs involve.

We are always eager to welcome new members onto the P&F Committee and invite anyone who is interested in being more involved in the school community to reach out to: pandf@hsringwoodnth.catholic.edu.au

Our next P&F meeting is on Tuesday 25 Oct at 7.30pm in the Staff Room. We hope to see you then!
