Just in case you missed the Dojo post last week. Please find attached the Parent Overviews for this term.

Science Day

Save the Date: SCIENCE DAY will be on Tuesday 8th November.

We are inviting all students to dress up on this day. Students may come as a Science invention, inspirational scientist or something to do with the theme of Glass - options are endless.

On this day students will be participating in Science activities and an incursion which will be run by Mad About Science (more information to come).

Can't wait to see all the scientists in action on this day!!

Food Waste Poster Competition

Did you know Victorian households throw away 250,000 tonnes of edible food each year? That's enough to fill Melbourne’s Eureka Tower!

In landfill, food waste produces methane, a potent greenhouse gas that’s 25 times stronger than carbon dioxide!  In Australia, the average household throws away approximately 1 in 5 shopping bags - most of this food could have been eaten! Not only are we wasting food when it is thrown away, but all the resources that went into growing, harvesting, transporting and buying that food is going to waste.

Avoiding food waste is the best way to ensure we are reducing greenhouse gas emissions and not wasting money or resources.

Maroondah students of all ages can help educate the Maroondah community about the importance of reducing food waste at home.

How to enter:

  • Create a poster (no larger than A3 in size) that includes one or more tips to educate Maroondah residents on how they can reduce food waste at home.
  • Students can enter as an individual or a group.
  • Submit your entry by Monday 31 October.

By entering you will be in the running to win fantastic prizes. Entries are open to all Maroondah students (from Prep-Year 12) from Monday 3 October until 5pm Monday 31 October 2022. Please enter via the Maroondah Council website.

More information, examples of entries, and submission information can be found at: https://www.maroondah.vic.gov.au/Residents-property/Waste-rubbish/Food-waste-poster-competition
