Principal’s Report
Mr Prasad
This has been a very successful term and congratulations to our Year 12 graduating students. They have successfully completed their HSC, and several have been offered early placements at tertiary institutions. Many others will be undertaking apprenticeships or pursuing long-term employment.
Congratulations and well done to all our students for completing a full year of learning onsite without interruptions and challenges.
Students have continued to positively reconnect with each other in a manner that reflects our ethos of being a safe, respectful learner and while building their confidence throughout this term.
We returned to a normal rhythm of school life with students eagerly involved in their learning and participating in the extensive co-curricular opportunities that we offered. These included sporting events like the MHS World Cup soccer competition and our swim school program as well as our Talent Quest showcase. Other activities included educational excursions such as visiting the Art Gallery of NSW and Sculptures by the Sea for visual arts and Luna Park to support the mathematics curriculum.
Together with rewards excursions to support our wellbeing programs, a number of Year 10 students also had the opportunity to engage and participate in motivation/mentoring, innovation and leadership programs with the Australian Business and Community Network (ABCN).
Year 5 Open Day was attended by over 200 students from our 5 partnering primary schools. The Year 6 Orientation Day was highly successful and attended by a large number of parents and students from primary schools in our local area and community.
To all the staff of Merrylands High School, I would like to thank you for your dedication and commitment that you have displayed towards supporting our students.
On behalf of the school, I wish all the students and families a wonderful and safe holiday and I look forward to seeing you back in 2023.
