Wellbeing Report

Chris Daicos Parent Presentation

On Tuesday 18th October at 6:30pm we are hosting a parent information session with our guest speaker, Chris Daicos.  We were fortunate to host Chris in Term 1 2021 before we all went back into lockdowns.  The parents/carers who attended this session were impressed and engaged with Chris’ focus on resilience.  Next week, Chris is presenting on teaching children the language of optimism.  The Leadership team felt this was an important focus for parents to understand, optimism and hope and how optimism  has been an essential part of everyone’s resilience and wellbeing for the past few years.  Chris is a trained teacher and social worker and is well placed to speak in this field.  We would like to see as many parents/carers at the session as possible, the booking form was posted on Compass on Tuesday and we can support families with babysitting also. Please come along if you can, you won’t be disappointed. The presentation will be taking place in our F-2 building in the central space.

Colour Run

Last week we sent home information about our up and coming Colour Run on Dec 1st. Thank you to all the families who have already registered their child/ren and are actively seeking sponsorship. We do understand the difficulties some families might be facing, so please do not take our reminders as us pushing for all to contribute.  If you can take part and contribute that is fabulous, if not, then we hope you will still come along and enjoy the event with the school community.

At present the focus is on the sponsorship, the next step will be from November 3rd - 10th students can nominate the prize/s they want.  More information will come out about this leading up to November 3rd.

The Colour Run is planned as our ‘End of Year’ Celebration event so there will be more details to be released about what this event will encompass in the coming weeks.

Update: Mini Class Prize

A fabulous effort by students and families in the first week of sponsorship.  Thank you all. We had two classes draw for first prize with 24 students registered and they were 5/6 C Ms Cann's class and 5/6 D Ms Caffari's class.  Well done to both classes of students. There were quite a few classes who have nearly all of their classes registered and as of about 3:00 pm today there has been $12,000 raised. For the second week of sponsorship, the five highest money raised classes will go into a draw to win some extra playtime outside.  This will be announced at assembly next week. Thank you to all the families who are supporting the Colour Run.

At the end of Term 3, I asked  families to enjoy the holiday break as students were showing signs of tiredness.  I must say, everyone must have had a fabulous break as the students have come back excited and ready to learn for the last term of the school year. Happy faces and focus is being displayed across all the classes.

This will be my last newsletter report and I wanted to thank the parents who have emailed or spoken to me and wished me well on my upcoming retirement.  I believe I have said everything I needed to say in my Compass post last week. I would just like to say again, a big thank you to everyone (students, parents/carers and staff) . I have had a fabulous career and look forward to life after teaching.
