Student Learning

Art

Students have been working extremely hard in Art this term!

Our Foundation students created some beautiful crowns to honour Queen Elizabeth.

The 1/2 students have been working hard on lots of fun Halloween art activities. They have made flying witches and are looking forward to painting their ceramic pumpkins.

The 3/4 students have also been working hard on Halloween activities. They have used weaving to create some amazing Spider Webs!

The 5/6 students have been studying the author Jackie French and have created some paintings inspired by her storybook 'Fire'.

Skillzone

Each week all students across the school have 2 sessions with Skillzone as part of our Physical Education program. Over the last few years our students have got to know and respect the staff as Skillzone, who offer a wonderful program with lots of new skills taught and practiced. In particular we would like to say thank you to Curtis who has been coaching our students for the last 3 years. Curtis will soon be moving away and we will certainly miss him! Our Year 56 students were sad to say goodbye and had some words they wanted to share -

Jack – Curtis is a very inspiring nice person.

Oscar - Curtis is energetic and fun to be around.

Qisha - Curtis is a really good sports teacher and he has a lot of fun with the kids.

Syakyra – Curtis likes jokes and plays along with our jokes. Everyone likes him.

Joel - We will all miss you Curtis and please come back to see us again.

We wish Curtis all the best for the future!

Foundation

Reading: We have been focusing on critiquing the characters in their books. We have also been looking closely at our "heart words.'

Writing: The students have been working really hard on their narratives. They have written some wonderful pieces and were able to add dialogue and revise them.

Maths: We have continued our focus on 2D and 3D shapes. The highlight was sorting the spheres and cubes into groups. The students have also enjoyed learning about ordinal numbers. As a group, they were able to place them in the correct order.

Year 1/2

Students in Year 1/2 have been working very hard on 'Time'. Students enjoyed the opportunity to draw their own clocks on the carpet!

Year 3/4

The 3/4 students have been focusing on up levelling their narratives in writing. Having written the main body of their narratives, students have been exploring different vocabulary and sharing feedback on how they can edit and make improvements to their stories.

Year 5/6

The Grade 5/6 students celebrated the end of their Mappen unit last Tuesday. Winners - Olivia and Madison, presented their project on UNICEF including their spoken word poem. Students came out of uniform and brought along a gold coin donation to be donated to UNICEF. The students were surprised and grateful to eat a yummy treat provided by Christie Molinaro. Thank you Christie!

Students were able to raise and donate $75. We are super proud of their efforts!
