Australian Maths Competition Prize Winners

Congratulations to Sachin G (Year 7) and Lin W (Year 8) who were in the top 99.7 percentile of this competition thanks to their impressive results in the AMC this year.


Softball Championships

Well done to Sam W (Year 9) and Talia N (Year 10) on their softball achievements.

 

Sam has just returned from Perth where he represented Victoria the Australian Schoolboys U17 Softball Championships. He is also going to compete in the Sunshine Coast on Thursday for the U16 Australian Softball Team Training Camp.

 

Talia Nuroo was part of the girls team who finished 4th and played extremely well.


National Lacrosse Club Championships 

Well done to Liam F (Year 10) who was selected as the goalie for the Northern Warriors Under 15 lacrosse team in the National Championships. Liam was also awarded MVP!


National Basketball Championship Winner

Well done to Nathan H (Year 7), whose Spectres team won the U14 National Basketball Championships recently. They won the Gold Medal and competed against 48 teams from across Australia as part of the Championships, making it one of the most elite youth competitions in the country. Well done!


Wordfest Competition

Well done to Shiven in Year 9 who recently won the 2022 Monash ‘WordFest’ Short Story Competition! He took out 1st place in the 12-14 years category with his short story “Unity is Strength”.

Congratulations also go to Aarush S (Year 9), Jehan M (Year 8) and Lily H (Year 7) whose stories were all highly commended.

Lyrebird Awards

Matilda has won several awards and we could not be prouder of all the award winners, both students and staff!

 

The Lyrebirds are an organisation that celebrate theatrical excellence across the South-East of Victoria. In our first year in the association, HT have been nominated for an incredible 13 nominations at the Lyrebird Youth Awards.

Huntingtower School for their comprehensive student mentoring program in all production roles for Matilda the Musical.


Chess Results

Our Open Secondary and Middle Years teams participated in their respective Chess State Finals on Wednesday and both teams performed very well. The tournament was held at Huntingtower in the VCE Building.

 

Our Open Secondary team finished in first position in their division beating out a very strong Mazenod team. Top performers in the Open Secondary division were Rey D and Jacki L (both with a score of 8.5 out of a possible 9).

 

Our Middle Years team finished a close second in their division after leading the tournament for the first 8 of 9 rounds. Top Performers in the Middle Years division were Kallol S, Benny C, Lin W and Jonathan W (all scored 6/9).


EMR Athletics

Well done to Cheng-Yun H (Year 4) who reached the EMR Athletics competition recently and competed in the 100m and 200m!
