Principal Message

Well we made it! One week of online learning in lockdown behind us. Hopefully only one more to go.

Let’s keep in our prayers those in Greater Sydney who have just had their lockdown extended until the end of September with further restrictions. Many of us no doubt have family impacted in Greater Sydney. My eldest son is locked down. Today he celebrates his birthday with us via Zoom. We’re even having cakes in both places to share. In some ways such separations bring us closer together. Now is a good time to reach out to family and friends to help them through lockdown. Technology can be such a help.

As we reach the midpoint of our lockdown (we hope), we are sending around a survey for parents and students to fill out. This information will be immensely helpful to us in planning next steps. Please fill that out by lunchtime Monday 23/8. We will share summary feedback with you.

We would encourage you to please follow these guidelines around Covid 19 and lockdown to ensure we are out of it faster and remain well:

  • Get vaccinated

  • Stay at home unless it is for approved reasons

  • Wear a mask at all times and QR code in and out of venues if out of home

  • Learning from home for all students with online learning unless the child is of an authorised worker

  • Remember to be checking in with family and friends to support their and your wellbeing

On your behalf I’d like to thank our wonderful staff, teaching and non teaching,  who have worked so hard this week to maintain operations and quality learning for every student. We should never take our team for granted. They do amazing work.

I’d particularly like to single out our Leadership Team who have been outstanding. We have been meeting each afternoon responding with creative problem solving to continually refine what we are doing to get through Lockdown. They have been of wonderful support and always have the students’ best interests at the centre of their thinking. We are well served by them.

To our families I thank you for your support. We have been trying to balance the need to keep learning on track but also to be looking after your children’s and your own wellbeing. This Facebook post has obviously resonated with many in our community but its an important message about what’s important at this time. It had thousands of engagements, close to 8000 as of today. Feel free to share it.

Best wishes for a restful weekend ahead.
