Year 12 Students

Time is limited, the end is in sight. Students need to ensure they attend class whenever possible. If they need to be absent on a particular day, they should be checking Connect to catch up on missed work, prior to attending their next class. Students are encouraged to apply themselves over the last few weeks, as a poor result in an assessment can greatly affect their achievement in the subject. Students are encouraged to have regular conversations with their teachers to ensure they are progressing towards the grades they need to achieve graduation.

Parents and students need to be aware that their child will have numerous assessments in the last week of term and it is important that students are in attendance for these. Students who miss these assessments due to medical reasons or have other authorised leave during this time, will need to return in the first week of Term 4 to complete these class assessments.

WOW!! What A Week.

Between the College Ball and the Dowerin Field Day excursion that many of our students have been involved in, it has been a busy week.

A special thank you to staff who have worked hard and gave up their own time to enable students to have these special experiences and learning activities. Events like this do not just happen, they take a huge amount of planning, as well as staff willing to give up their personal time to attend.

It is rewarding for staff to see students enjoying and learning from these opportunities and would like to congratulate everyone on their behaviour at these events. Your behaviour and engagement in the activities is a testimony to the fact that you appreciate being given these opportunities which is fantastic to see. Well done!

Please Keep In Touch

Thank you to the parents and carers who participated in the parent interviews last Thursday, hopefully you found them worthwhile in determining how your child is progressing and what we can all do to further support them.

If you were unable to attend or want to catch up with staff who were not available, please do not hesitate to contact the College to arrange a phone or in person interview when it is convenient. We encourage your involvement in your child’s education and understand that sometimes it can be difficult to really know how they are going without talking to their teachers.

Class staff can be contacted at the College on 9782 2100 or via email. You should be able to email your child’s teachers through Connect. However, if you are unsure of who to contact please don’t hesitate to contact me and I will forward you the contact details you require.

Muresk Camp

The Year 11 students were privileged to have 5 guest speakers on the topic of regenerative agriculture and sustainable farming, spray free crops and grazing, increasing a enterprise’s biodiversity, no-till options and promoting soil health.

Government agencies and pioneers Re-Gen farmers were among the speakers which included Nick Kelly (Sustainable and Regenerative Farming Systems), Shayanna Crouch (Building Farm Networks), Grace Williams (DPRIRD Research Trials), Kayla Evans (DPRID PrimeD Project) and Steven Wainewright (Muresk Institute Farm Manager- Research Trial).

Students were also given a tour of the Muresk perennial shrub trial of native saltbush by the Farm Manager.

This has given Year 11 Animal Production students some great information leading up to their sustainability task at the old Harvey Ag site later this term.

Past students Laura Ellis and Amanda Cavenagh spoke with the students about uni life and the courses available, before the night activities.  Luke Pfitzner popped in to say hello to staff and students at the end of the night. It was wonderful to see them thriving in their tertiary studies!
