Lockdown 6.0

I'm beginning to run out of motivational things to say as we work our way through Lockdown 6.0! I am still incredibly impressed by our students and our teachers capacity to come together and try so hard to have an enjoyable learning experience in an online format.  Our attendance rate in this lockdown is very high and a reflection on the commitment from our school community.

I know that from my desk it is easy for me to say that things are all happening so easily, but in truth I know just how hard it can be.  I have had to juggle messages and phone calls from my daughter and son as they try to navigate their learning and when their technology isn't working, meeting link is wrong, or when they just don't understand what they are supposed to do, it can be overwhelming to manage it all.

When we are out of this lockdown, we do have some things planned to bring our students together. Book Week begins on August 21st and runs through until the 27th.  We are planning a day of celebrations and activities so students can spend a day having some fun and participating in a dress up parade, dressed as their favourite book character.  Look out for the flyer and information to come from Katie early next week. It is likely parents will not be allowed on site at that stage, so we will record the parade and provide the link for those who want to watch it.  If we are still in a lockdown, we are working on a Plan B, which has become the norm for schools and families now.

We will be running an whole school assembly online on Monday 16th at 12 midday. The link and meeting details are below.  You teacher will also send out the details via their Monday schedule.   We hope to see as many of you as we can there as it is not only morale building for the students but the staff enjoy seeing everyone together too.

f you need any clarification or any help over the weekend, please don't hesitate to contact me via email;  nieta.manser@education.vic.gov.au  .

I hope you all have a nice lockdown weekend and you get to enjoy some time outdoors in Warrandyte. I remind myself everyday as I cross the bridge, that I am fortunate to live here during lockdowns and to have the track along the river to walk each day.

Take care,

Nieta
