Message from Aoife

Acting Principal – St John's Footscray

As lockdown continues and COVID cases continue to be of concern we are even more conscious of ensuring that our school community stays connected. Our Book Week celebrations, scone making, dance video and shadow jewellery were a fantastic way to connect, smile and break the routine of lockdown. Thank you for sharing your photos with us, keep them coming over the next week or two as we wait for news on restrictions easing. Plans are underway for a Footy Day next week, keep an eye on Facebook/our Gathering Places for the details. I'll be wearing blue and white and keeping the Roos spirit going while we aim to claw our way back next year!

Farm update

We are progressing with our farm negotiations, the surveyors, like many in Melbourne, are limited in their ability to access the site to amend the drawings/measurements which is currently holding up the next step in the process. We hope to have a more detailed update for our community soon. In the meantime our chickens are being well cared for by our onsite staff and the rain has been keeping everything well watered.

Staffing update

Louise has been successful in being appointed as ICON coach at St Stephen's and St Gabriel's in Reservoir. We congratulate Louise on her new role, we will miss her expertise and the care she has shown our community during her time at St John's. Louise will finish with us at the end of this term. Her new schools are very lucky to have her join the team.

We are delighted to warmly welcome Melinda McNaught to St John's as our new bursar. Melinda is experienced in working in primary schools and will be working alongside Louise until the end of Term 3. Melinda begins at St John's next Tuesday, it will feel a bit funny starting during lockdown but our community will no doubt make her feel warmly welcomed, albeit via phone/email for now.

Father’s Day is fast approaching and we at St John’s would like to wish you all a happy Father’s Day with a little something from us. A coffee voucher will be emailed to you, have a cuppa on us and enjoy being spoiled by your family next weekend. Our Father’s Day stall will look a little different this year, on Friday 3rd September we will have a basket outside the office door with some gifts to choose from, gold coin donation, feel free to pick something up on a walk past throughout the day. Thank you to Jacqueline Cassar and Leonie for organising the stall for our community.

Wishing you all a relaxing weekend.
