Father's Day- Sunday 5th September

Sunday was a day of thanks and to celebrate all the fathers and father figures in our lives. Saint Joseph, of whom is the patron saint of our school, is a very special saint known as the protector of the Catholic Church. A true believer, he followed and obeyed God when the angel was sent to inform him of Jesus. He stood by Mary and Jesus, teaching Jesus his carpentry skills. Although Joseph is more of a silent figure and is not mentioned frequently throughout the Bible, we know that he is a prominent figure on who we can base our parenting: honest, hardworking, caring, faithful, humble, compassionate, loving and the list goes on.

This Father's Day may have been a more solemn affair surrounded by our closest, or needing to use technology to communicate, but be thankful for those around you. Also, remember those in your life who have acted as a father figure, but not necessarily your father (grandparents, neighbours, uncles, family friends...) and the lessons they have taught us in life. Cherish the moments with your loved ones because if this lockdown has taught us anything it is that the world is uncertain and what we view as 'normal' one day could be all that we wish for in the future.

I hope all the fathers had an amazing day!
