Junior School

Performing Arts

While Term 3 has presented challenges, our students have been committed and enthusiastic in their approach to their Performing Arts pursuits. Prior to Victoria’s latest lockdown, our Junior Ensembles followed a tight schedule of recording their music to share in a virtual concert. Each ensemble performed to a high standard and the joy of sharing their music was evident. Our string ensembles showcased their development with students from Year 3 - 6 participating. Both the Cherub and Seraphim Choirs sang with gusto as they featured beautiful harmonies and positive messages. The choirs combined to present ‘Sing’ and a benediction, and their infectious joy rang out. Vivace also contributed some infectious tunes and rhythms.

A real highlight was the debut performance of two ensembles, Con Il Respiro and the Junior School Orchestra. Both ensembles feature our woodwind musicians and percussionists, giving them the opportunity to play some advanced music, especially when combining with Malaguena to perform orchestral repertoire. Some of these Junior Ensembles had the opportunity to share their music online with the classes for Chapel. The Cherub Choir led worship and a drama presentation was part of Mr Clarke’s message.

The Year 2 strings program has continued remotely, with the instructors connecting online. The students have responded well to this opportunity.

All students have continued rehearsing songs and choreography for the upcoming recording sessions for Annie Jnr. Year 6 students with main roles have had daily online rehearsals and have adapted well to this different style of rehearsing. Annie Jnr will definitely be something to look forward to in Term 4 and everyone is working hard to present the best possible show!
