Feast of Pentecost

The Feast of Pentecost, which is celebrated the 50 days after Easter Sunday, commemorates the coming  of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ. The coming of the Holy Spirit happened whilst the Apostles were in Jerusalem.

When the Feast of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.

Without warning there was a sound like a strong wind, gale force - no one could tell where it came from. It filled the whole building.

Then, like a wildfire, the Holy Spirit spread through their ranks,

and they started speaking in a number of different languages as the Spirit prompted them.

Acts of the Apostles 2:1-4

Pentecost is a significant feast within the Catholic church and is often described as the 'birth of the church'.

Sunday Masses

While we are still unable to attend mass, there are some options available. St. Patrick's Cathedral in Melbourne have announced that the 11am Sunday Mass at St Patrick's Cathedral will continue to be televised free to air on C31 as well as live streamed on their website and YouTube channel

The Oblate of Mary Immaculate are also continuing to serve their community during this time. Masses and Prayer Services are live-streamed from many of their churches/seminaries to cater for their communities.
