Year 7

Term 2 Online Learning

I hope that you and your families are remaining safe and well.

I would like to thank you for all the efforts you have put in to support your son’s learning during this difficult time. As we move further into unknown territory, it gives me comfort knowing as a St James College community we are working collaboratively towards a common goal of wellbeing and academic progress.

I would also like to extend my thanks to the Year 7 Team who have worked around the clock to prepare online lessons and responding to individual needs. They have worked collaboratively with their students to adjust programs to suit their needs. Below is a collation of feedback from the homeroom teachers about the classroom experiences thus far:

Billy Natsioulas

Year 7 Coordinator

Year 7.1 – Rachel Urquhart

7.1 is adapting well to Online Homeroom. We still have YouTube of the Week on Fridays – with different people nominating and posting videos. This week we had bring your pets to homeroom. It was good fun with our dogs and cats, but Orlando Maratos wins as he took us to visit his ducks via the laptop! Thinking of all the boys at this time and proud to see them all communicating and helping each other!

Year 7.2 – Laura Desmet

We have had good numbers attending the morning Zoom meetings. Joke of the day is taking off with Campbell Gatt the current champion! Happy Birthday to Alexander Carter for Sunday (ISO Birthday). Our thoughts are with some of our class members who are going through some tough times.

Year 7.3 – Phillip Thomas

7.3 have been getting involved in the Online Learning process. I’m really encouraged by the boys supporting each other and answering each other’s questions when needed. We’ve had a funny hat homeroom and many crazy and wacky masks came out too (even a sound making Chewbacca). Looking forward though to being able to all be together back in homeroom 7.3!

Year 7.4 – Joshua Romeo

7.4 have started having ZOOM sessions every morning. Last Friday we had a bring-a-pet to zoom day which was really exciting and quite funny because no pet wanted to stay in the zoom session.

As a class, we have been discussing a variety of ways to manage our stress levels and time-management skills with online learning. 7.4 have been awesome and are good at communicating and asking for assistance!
