Despite the current restrictions some great work continues with the TPS Enviro Team.

Darebin Council is planning some revegetation work for Henderson Park, and the Enviro Team have given some feedback to the draft proposal. If you are interested in finding out more please email tpsenviro@gmail and we can get you informed.

Aviva Reed is doing an amazing job caring for the TPS food and learning gardens, often on her own time. As she is on staff as Garden Educator she is able to access the site.

Our chickens continue to be cared for by a very small team of approved carers outside of school hours, including staff. Results of the naming competition will be out soon.

The Kitchen Garden Shelter project is on temporary hold due to the complexities of lockdown.

Members of our team are helping with repairs to the Solar roof panels, and we have plans for an energy audit and look to how we can be more energy efficient at TPS.

A relationship is starting to be developed with Darebin Council’s new Aboriginal Programs Officer about future programs around native plants and bush foods at TPS.

The pergola around the bike shed has been removed by DET approved builders for safety reasons. It was becoming increasingly dangerous. The Wisteria and climbing Banksia Rose have both been cut back very hard, but being the vigorous plants they are will likely sprout new growth in spring.  If you want to get in touch with us: tpsenviro@gmail.com

Can you help us name our chickens?

Profiles of each chicken type and personality are available on google forms you can put forward a name for one or all of the chickens.

Once we have collected suggestions from the TPS community we will put the names to a vote.

Wayapa and Gardening

Ngoon Godgin to Aunty Lee and Aviva who are running the Wayapa and Gardening programs during our learning from home this term.

Aunty Lee has been sending us videos to support our wellbeing during this time.  There are Dadirri meditations, Wayapa movements and learning tasks about healthy foods.   We hope you are enjoying the variety of wellbeing tasks which the whole family can join in together.

Aviva is working with the Years 3-6 sharing videos and learning tasks about volcanic landscapes in Victoria.  We are also learning to keep a Nature Journal with sketches, observations and ideas from the outside environment.
