T.I.M.E (Music)

The TIME team are having fun meeting on Monday nights to discuss how we can make our lessons online really exciting!

Our grade 6 TIME students would have received some mail in their letterboxes this week from the TIME team inviting them to take part in a very exciting online event…...more details will be announced to our community soon!

Keep playing!!!!

The TIME Team would like to invite you to an important musical TPS celebration and community event.  Usually we would celebrate our year 6 students at the Senior Ensembles Concert, but like all other musicians around the world we can’t do live performances at the moment, and so like all other musicians around the world we are going to move our performance into the online space!

The grade 6 students of TPS are creating a video of their own performances to present to the school community in our online “LOCK DOWN / ROCK DOWN” Show that  the TPS community can watch at the same time.

Put 6.30pm on the 4th September in your families calendar now!!!

Last term the students of TPS learnt remotely and when back at school all about the elements of drama. This evolved into a project in which the students were to act out a story told by Aunty Doreen Garvey-Wandin and narrated by Aunty Terri.

Each class combined the learnt skills for the project and showed great enthusiasm, excitement, and proficiency with the skills taught. The linked video is the combination of all classes and grades to show the amazing efforts of our students.

This term we will be working on song composition remotely.

Have you thought about adding something different to your child's learning at home this time?

Why not try singing lessons for the next 6 weeks.

We are welcoming Raleigh Williams to the TIME team for this period. Contact Emma Cornish-Giles to find out more.

Raleigh Williams is a seasoned Melbourne vocalist and voice teacher, with a voice and performance style that draws on a background of singing in a diverse range of genres. She’s graced almost every Melbourne stage at sold-out gigs guesting with beloved local soul outfit Cookin on 3 Burners, Moreland City Soul Revue, the Nathan Liow jazz trio, while being an in-demand session singer for local acts.

Her annual homages to Amy Winehouse, Dusty Springfield, Nina Simone and Eartha Kitt have become firm favourites to the Melbourne public at the Paris Cat, Caravan Club and the Rising Sun Hotel - she recently received a Melbourne City Council grant to perform three of these shows as part of an ‘isolation collection' over YouTube, and was broadcast as part of a Hume Council ‘At Home together’ showcase in April.

Also having a keen interest in French language and music, her Franco-jazz band La Nuit Blanche is a popular cultural outfit - having performed at Stonnington Jazz Festival, Federation Square, Paris to Provence Festival, Adelaide French Festival and many other major events since its inception 6 years ago. Last year, she was program curator for ’Sunday Lounge Sessions’ at Kathleen Symes Library Carlton.

She currently teaches singing at Box Hill Institute, after taking time off to have a baby in 2018, and performed with Musica Viva In Schools in world-music ensemble Amanaska for 5 years, regularly touring across the country to regional schools and venues. She has a keen interest in vocal health, stagecraft, and young people singing for enjoyment.

Raleigh is looking forward to meeting and singing with Thornbury PS students this term and hopes she can provide some inspiration, guidance and positivity to students!
