Library

The end of the term approaches! Yes, the term that has been so different to any other ever known across the world, is nearly at an end for us. It has been a term of mixed emotions: gratitude for no active cases of coronavirus in our staff and student body, excitement with the arrival of our new furniture, sadness because we can’t safely use it all yet, pride in our school’s management of the whole messy situation, and awe at the development of autonomy amongst so many of our students. It will be a break that we all need, and a time to regather our strength and prepare for what Term 3 may bring. We have been delighted by the uptake of online access to our catalogue across the school and we are managing our safe handling of books for all concerned. There are many students who have loans showing as overdue – that is fine by us. We will continue to lend books until close of business on Friday in the COVID safe process and, if restrictions ease for our return, it will be a celebration to allow browsing among the physical collection.

Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge

Some different statistics this week. Our Junior School students have read a total of 178 books and 30 were added in the last week. Over the holidays I hope we can see this rise to 300 plus. Our Senior School students need to try and catch up! Top Senior School students are Isobel Mecham, Katie Richardson, Molly Mecham, Maggie Bourke, Fay Harjanto and Charlie Mahar! Well done to all.

Best wishes for a wonderful holiday – ideally with lots of books to read.
