GENERAL NEWS

COMPASS - STAGE 1
This term St Nicholas School is changing to a new School Management System called Compass. It is a web-based program that will eventually be rolled out in all Primary and Secondary schools across the Armidale Diocese by the end of 2020.
The Compass 'Kiosk' is in the reception for parents to sign in students arriving after 8.45 am and sign out students leaving before 2.40 pm. Late students must be signed in by a parent or arrive at reception with a note stating the reason as to why they are late.
Over the next few months, we will be opening further modules of Compass including the Parent Portal.
The Staff Professional Development Day (Pupil Free Day) for upskilling staff around the Compass portal will take place at the end of the term on Friday 3rd July.
UNIFORM CHANGE OVER
Please support us in ensuring your child/ren are fully dressed in their correct uniform each day. We have high expectations around our uniform and as a community we need to uphold this expectation and wear our uniform with pride.
Remember that the clothing pool is open during school hours. There are many good quality items in various sizes available. If you wish to access the clothing pool, please email or telephone our office staff. Our office staff will be more than happy to access the clothing pool on your behalf for uniform items and have them ready for collection in the office.
COMMUNICATION WITH ST NICHOLAS SCHOOL
Our office is open between 8.00am and 4.00pm each day. For any queries, the most efficient way of contacting our staff during this time is via email.

SUPERVISION OF STUDENTS
All parents need to be aware our supervision of students
does not begin until 8.15am each day.
We are increasingly concerned that children are being dropped off and left on their own, unsupervised by parents before this time - often up to half an hour earlier. This is not a safe or acceptable practice. Currently students are expected to come in and sit in the Holy Family Courtyard unsupervised and wait. We cannot be responsible for any accident or potentially harmful incidents occurring. Please organise alternative care for your child if your child requires supervision before 8.15am.
MOBILE PHONES AND ELECTRONIC DEVICES
Here at St Nicholas School, students are not permitted to use mobile phones whilst in our care. However we do appreciate that some students have phones to make communication with parents easier especially after school hours. Our policy is that all students with phones, ipods or other electronic devices must hand these in at the office to Mrs Grady at the start of each day and collect them at the end of the day. If phones are used inappropriately by any student they will not be permitted to bring it to school.
YEAR 5 AND YEAR 6 EXCURSIONS
A decision regarding the viability of the Year 5 and Year 6 excursions will be made by the end of the term and parents updated accordingly. Thank you for your patience.
