PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES UPDATE  (21/04/20)

FROM :  John Pease  TO:  Existing and new clients

RE:  TERM 2  arrangements

As you are aware, the Government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic has seen significant changes to many aspects of life. At the time of writing, the changes that apply to my service delivery to Girton students include:

1. Psychological services delivered via Telehealth (phone and video)

New Medicare items have been added to the MBS to allow services to be delivered in this manner. The continuing availability of this mode of service delivery will be subject to review by Government prior to September 30.

Should you have any questions please email me johnpease@girton.vic.edu.au.

In addition to your permission to provide service, the APS recommends an additional client consent form for provision by telehealth. This will be sent by email to you for page 1 to be returned, OR your emailed consent will suffice.

2. How to access Mental Health Care Plans (MHCP)

There has been no change to normal arrangements via your GP.  However, contact with your GP may occur via the Telehealth pathway (or email as I have been informed) rather than the physical visit.

3. Counselling and learning assessments

These will occur by telehealth for Term 2.

Mrs Ellis’s PA role continues to be arranging suitable times with you for appointments between myself and referred students. NOTE: you will also be asked for the preferred telehealth platform in your home(Face-time or Zoom).

I look forward to supporting you and your family under these new arrangements.

Mr John Pease

Educational and Psychological Services

Our School’s Pastoral Care system includes my specialised & confidential services that includes counselling, learning & ability assessments for students in both Junior & Senior School.

Comprehensive Ed- Psych assessments are available to determine the strengths and challenges in students’ learning styles, and to provide research based strategies to address any deficits. Counselling services are also available for any student whose mood or behaviours have changed.

Should you require further information on how my service could advance their learning or behavioural adjustment, please email me directly on johnpease@girton.vic.edu.au or on 0419 108 460.

Appointments may be arranged by contacting Mrs Lorraine Ellis (Mon-Wed) on 4408 5937, or Mrs Rebecca Doherty & Mrs Amy Hayes (Thurs- Fri) on 4408 5961.
