Staged return to school

We care about our students and families.

Today all parents and carers were sent information via Compass describing routines, protocols and practices, some of which are already in place and some will commence when the students resume. The information has been prepared in conjunction with advice received from The Department of Education and Training and the Chief Health Officer. We encourage parents and carers to share the information with their children and use the social story (copy attached below) as an introduction to your discussions with them.

Key dates to remember:

  • 25 May: Pupil Free Day The transition back to school will be as challenging as the move to remote learning. The provision of a pupil free day will provide  staff  with time to prepare for the return of the students.
  • 26 May: Prep, Years 1 and 2 students return
  • 9 June: Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 students return

Social distancing and hand hygiene practices to ensure a safe school environment

In the Return to School Information for Parents and Carers document (copy attached above) sent to all families today, parents and carers have been provided with drop off and pick up arrangements, to enable social distancing, which will apply from 26th May.  While the Victorian Chief Health Officer has advised it is safe to return to school, social distancing requirements will still apply to adults

Department of Education and Training signage, listing who may enter the school grounds, has been displayed on all gates since the commencement of Term 2.

As has been the case since the commencement of the term, parents may not access the school grounds unless dropping off or picking up from after school care.

Parents and carers who have been accessing on-site supervision are very familiar with this well established routine and we greatly appreciate their support and understanding, This requirement now applies to all families.

All parent queries will continue to be managed via the front office and physical distancing will apply.

When parents congregate at the beginning and end of the day we ask our families to adhere to social distancing practices to safeguard community health expectations. Please consider your own health needs and the health needs of all adults at these times.

The intent and purpose of changes to school routines going forward is  to ensure the school environment remains safe for all students, staff and parents before, during and after school.

The health and safety of our students, staff and parents is crucial at this time.

Enhanced school cleaning routines

As we prepare to return, parents and carers are advised of a number of  hygiene and cleaning measures in  place:

  • enhanced cleaning for the remainder of Term 2 and all of Term 3
  • supplies of products to ensure hand hygiene, including sanitizer, soap and disinfectant wipes will be available for all schools

State Government commits $18.9m to Beaumaris Secondary College

A message from Debby Chaves Principal

We are so excited to share the news with our school community that we will be allocated $18.9 million in the Education-Jobs Blitz program announced earlier this week.  This project will begin this year and ensures that students will have continued outstanding facilities as they move through their senior years. I would like to thank School Council members for their lobbying efforts and commitment to seeing Beaumaris Secondary grows.  A special thanks to School Council President, Steve Pearce, and School Council Treasurer, Shaun Mooney, for keeping our college on the forefront of the government's planning agenda. This funding is further endorsement of the amazing teaching and learning that happens at Beaumaris Secondary College.  Thank you to our wonderful team of educators and support staff who make the vision a reality. Gratitude and Mindfulness

What are three things that went well for you today?

What are the best things that happened to you today?

Who are you most grateful for and why?

What are you looking forward to most about tomorrow?
