School News

Term 3 is going very smoothly and it is very busy across the school. Students and teachers have been working on documentation for Goal Setting and Learning Conferences which begin next week and also beginning preparations for Book Week. So exciting times ahead. Please see further into the newsletter for information about each event.

Social Media

We have had a number of families contact us seeking support with social media. Social media is an ever-changing landscape. For parents, it is becoming increasingly difficult to navigate this space and keep abreast of what our children are using as a platform to communicate with each other.

From our conversations with many students, it is clear that Snapchat is the preferred platform, despite young people needing to be 13 years old to sign up for it. However, there is no age verification built into the app so young people can add a false date of birth.

Recently Snapchat launched a Family Centre within their app, a tool for carers to help their children keep safe whilst on the app.

Goal Setting and Learning Conferences

Bookings for Goal Setting and Learning Conferences are currently open. The portal closes this Friday 19th August at 5pm.  Bookings to meet with teachers and your child/ren are vital to:

  • Reflect on existing goals and refine goals as needed
  • Celebrate achievements
  • Identify areas for growth to improve learning outcomes
  • Discuss strategies to ensure goals are met

DfE has advised the following COVID Safe requirements. When attending conferences families are strongly recommended to wear face masks, hand sanitiser will be available and attendees are advised that they must not attend if unwell, even mildly.

We appreciate families following these requirements. If you have any questions please contact the Front Office.

Community Night

COME AND LEARN WITH ME ...

Wednesday 21st September from 5pm to 6:30pm.

This year's community night aim and focus is to reconnect with our parent community and exhibit the exciting and innovative everyday learning experiences that occur at LNPS daily. Think of it as an informal school tour for our existing families. The theme of our community night is “Come and Learn with me…”

The purpose of community night is to informally bring families together and provide the opportunity to walk through indoor learning spaces and for our students to share their learning. Students will be taking their families around our school to share the great learning occurring that occurs across various spaces and promote the theme of learning with them during the night.

The evening will commence with the official opening of our Early Years Redevelopment

We are really excited about being able to welcome families back into the school.

Food trucks will also be available throughout the event. We welcome back What the Croque and Van Dough. Families will be able to purchase on the night. Soft drinks and water will be available for sale by our Senior students.

Logistics and timeline for the event will be worked through over the coming weeks with DfE and communicated to families.

Community Night Poster Competition

The student poster competition is back....

Please see the flyer for further details.

Parent Survey

Families are invited to complete the 2022 annual parent survey, which is now open.

Parents should have received an email or SMS on Monday 1 August from the Parent Survey Team with a unique link to participate in the survey.

If you did not receive an email or SMS with your unique survey link, contact education.ParentSurvey@sa.gov.au and include our school’s name in your email.

The survey takes less than 10 minutes and will help us understand:

  • what we’re doing well
  • where we can improve
  • what’s important to you.

Your answers will not identify you or your child. Only collated feedback will be provided to our school. Information collected will inform school improvement planning and activities at the school.

The survey closes 5pm Sunday 28 August.

For more information visit the department’s website.
