Message from the Principal

Achieving Excellence Together

Dear Parents,

This week we had the opportunity to celebrate a major milestone for our Prep students who are now 100 days smarter having completed their first 100 days of school. A very big thank you to the parents, students and staff joined us in the celebrations, dressing up as a 100-year old and participating in activities about the number 100, all culminating in a special assembly to award students for their achievement.

Book Week

At Albanvale Primary School, we value the vital role that Literacy plays in our everyday lives. We strive to instil a love of reading which is evident in our annual Book Week Celebrations. This year, we will be celebrating Book Week from the 22nd to the 28th of August. We will start our celebrations with our Book Character Dress Up Parade and then continue with a range of activities across the week. Check out the newsletter article to find out more.

Learning POWERS!

How do our students demonstrate excellence as a learner at Albanvale Primary School? This insightful question was posed to me by one of our parents earlier this week and has been the cause of much discussion amongst our staff. This year, we opened this question to our students in the elected Student Voice Team who have undertaken lesson observations, discussions with peers and staff to lead us toward establishing what we call the APS Learning POWERS! Over the coming weeks in our newsletters, you will begin to see some information about the 3 essential powers we have identified as a school that every student needs to possess to achieve excellence in their learning. Our Learning Powers give the ability to be Reflective, Determined, and Independent.  Students will explore each of these powers across the rest of term before creating a performance to share with our whole community.

Prep Enrolment 2023

We are in the final stages of pre-enrolments for families as we look to confirm student places at the end of next week. There is still time for families to submit their pre-enrolment form if they wish to do so. If you or someone you know has a child looking to start school in 2023, please encourage them to either submit their application through our school website or contact our front office on 9367 2197 today

Finally, this week we say farewell to Ms Kane who leaves having accepted a Speech Pathologist at the Royal Children’s hospital. Ms Kane has been part of the Albanvale Community since 2017 and through her various roles has been a fantastic support to students and their families. On behalf of our whole-community I would like to thank her for her outstanding contribution to our school and wish her the best of luck on her exciting new role.
