Transition Morning

On Wednesday 17 November, the Arlington children from Kindergarten (4s) right through to the 10s participated in an orientation morning as part of transition to the 2022 academic school year.

New students joining Preshil next year spent the morning with us in order to get acquainted with the School, their peers and teachers. It was also an opportunity for current children to spend some time with their 2022 classroom teachers and peers, to settle into the learning spaces that they will be spending next year in.

We hope they all had a lovely morning and formed new friendships. There was a lot of excitement and a real buzz in the air!

Over the course of Term 4, the 10s and 11s have also spent some time getting to know the secondary campus and staff via a carefully constructed transition program. On Wednesday 17 November, those 11s moving over next year spent a full transition day at Blackhall Kalimna getting to know the new children joining our Year 7 cohort from other primary schools.

Electives

It is with great pleasure that I bring to your attention that the electives program at Arlington has re-commenced. Some electives that were originally meant to run in Term 3 are not running this term. A few re-shuffles had to be made and new options were introduced.

Electives are designed to broaden students’ learning within and beyond the curriculum and they are a pillar of our enduring commitment to making, choosing, building, playmaking and performing. Electives are timetabled once a week and each term, children from Prep to Year 6 (11s) choose from an ever-evolving selection of subjects and activities from a vast array of topic areas. Electives also play an integral part in initiating and strengthening relationships amongst children from various age groups.

Electives that are running this term include:

  • Stop Motion
  • Board Games
  • Invention Time
  • Soccer Skills
  • Drama
  • Garden & Outdoor Education
  • Cyclology
  • Chess

Doo Dah

Our final Doo Dah of the year will be held next week on Thursday 2 December. Although a paired back and Covid safe version, it is great to be able to host this once again for the children.

If you are able to help on the day please contact your classroom rep. There are various jobs such as cutting, peeling, cooking, serving and of course it's a wonderful opportunity to get together and socialise with the parents across year levels. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We look forward to celebrating with you. What a lovely way to end the year.
