Prayer:

The Sacrament of Waiting

Slowly

she celebrated the sacrament of letting go.

First she surrendered her green,

then the orange, yellow, and red

finally she let go of her brown.

Shedding her last leaf

she stood empty and silent, stripped bare.

Leaning against the winter sky

she began her vigil of trust.

Shedding her last leaf

she watched its journey to the ground.

She stood in silence

wearing the colour of emptiness,

her branches wondering;

How do you give shade with so much gone?

And then,

the sacrament of waiting began.

The sunrise and sunset watched with tenderness.

Clothing her with silhouettes

they kept her hope alive.

They helped her understand that

her vulnerability,

her dependence and need,

her emptiness, her readiness to receive

were giving her a new kind of beauty.

Every morning and every evening they stood

in silence

and celebrated together

the sacrament of waiting.

I read this prayer/poem at briefing this morning as it felt...right.

The waiting game....because change is always coming right?

I look back at my time here at Sacred Heart and I feel an overwhelming sense of pride.  As a mother of four young children with no family of my own here, Sacred Heart very quickly became my family.

I chose this school to educate my children as I knew it would provide the 'whole' education to my children.  Not just academically but also how best to be a citizen of the world and to above all care for others.

I remember with fondness my days teaching the Year 7 and 8 students for Math and Science as well as Sustainability to the rest of the school with my trusty side kick Di Walton, I miss those 'carefree' days in the classroom, when you are in your bubble.

I am also grateful for the incredible opportunities that past and current staff have given me to grow in my leadership.  By doing so I have been fortunate to have felt the incredible bond that a Principal has for their students, and the unconditional positive regard for everyone that walks through the doors of our school and wanting them to always succeed.

My thanks to the brilliant staff we have at Sacred Heart.  Especially this year with the changing of the administration guard, the farewell of Mary and the stars aligning with our employment of the gorgeous Kasie to the catch of the day with Mez, Julie and Tina.

My thanks to the parents/carers and students of Sacred Heart school for opening your hearts to me and enveloping me with everything it means to be a part of this school community.

I am not ready to go, I love this school community,  the amazingly supportive parents and carers, the incredible Parent's and Friends Association, the wise School Advisory Council, the cheeky and energetic staff.....I will forever benchmark any other school I lead to Sacred Heart.

Thank you all for making my time at Sacred Heart amazing... I know that you will all welcome Miss Justine Goonan with the same warmth that you did with me.

I wish you all a very safe and loving Festive Season.  My your presence be presents enough.. xoxo

 With love and blessings,   Zoe
