CHESS CLUB FINALE
Today was the final meeting for the St Edward's Chess Club for 2021 and the students enjoyed competing against one another for the final time before holidays begin next week. This club continues to grow in popularity and Mr Millman may need to purchase more equipment next year to keep up with the demand!
A big thanks to the students who have eagerly participated throughout the year. It has been very enjoyable to witness the growth in students' skill levels and understanding of the game, and we will look forward to restarting the club in 2022. All ability levels can come along, and new players are always warmly welcomed.
STAFF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: THE BALANCED READER
Last Friday, St Edward's staff participated in an engaging Professional Development day around ways to support all students to become 'Balanced Readers'. Carmel Small, a Professional Development consultant from Nelson Cengage, shared her expertise on reading and led our staff on the importance of decoding, fluency and comprehension as the three vital skills that are needed for students to develop their reading skills.
A further thank you to Claire Ryan, Briony Martin and Millie Woolaston from the Armidale Diocese who shared the CSO's new Data Ecosystem with the staff. This will become an invaluable resource for our staff as we track the learning of the students at St Edward's.
