Learning and Teaching

Visual Arts

It was wonderful to see the students back at school and in the art areas.  The Juniors have been busy over the last two lessons finishing off their Koi kites which are now hanging in their Learning Spaces.  They have also been busy creating fabulous sculptures using different materials.  For their first sculpture the students created fabulous abstract sculptures using a variety of materials such as straws, pipe cleaners and coloured wire and were excited to share their art with each other.  Their next sculpture was to create a new sea creature using Magiclay and it was amazing to see the students’ imagination and creativity in both tasks.

The Seniors had the opportunity to work on their modelling skills, creating pinch pot owls using terra cotta clay with a focus on using different tools to create texture and we look forward to showing them off once they have been fired.
