Happy Reading

Book Fair

Thank you for coming to our Book Fair last week. We had many excited children and teachers drooling over the bright and colourful books from Scholastic Publishers (who also run the Book Club).

Lots of new books from favourite authors like Andy Lee, Philip Bunting, Aaron Blabey and Jane Godwin.

The Library was able to buy some long awaited books from our share of the proceeds which was very welcome as budgets closed several months ago and we love new books.

Holiday Reading

Students will be able to borrow books over the holidays again and we have so many great series to keep readers entranced during the hot days and nights.

Here are a few of the popular and lesser known authors.

Sally Rippin – Early readers

Sally Rippin specialises in books for beginner readers. They are short, charmingly illustrated with cute characters. Three series are “Billie B”, “Hey Jack!” And the most recent “School of Monsters”.

Carole Wilkinson – Upper Primary – Lower Secondary

Carole Wilkinson writes fabulous historical fiction and fantasy. She has several series. The “Dragonkeeper” series set in Ancient China is very much loved by generations of children. She also has more factually based series such as the “Ramose” books which are adventure stories set in Ancient Egypt.

Jackie French – Secondary Readers

Jackie French is well known for her Wombat picture books, humorous junior fiction and also a series of rollicking yarns based on characters from Australian History and folklore. “The Girl from Snowy River”, “Clancy of the Overflow” or “The Ghost by the Billabong”. She calls these books The Matilda Saga.
