Mrs. Vivienne Corness - Assistant Head of Primary

End of Year Thank You

2021 has been a busy and fulfilling year. In Primary we are blessed with a dedicated team of teachers who are focused on supporting every student in their class. The opportunities provided to our students extend from meeting their diverse range of learning needs to offering opportunities for further growth and extension. It is a privilege to work alongside such passionate, driven, knowledgeable and empathetic educators.

Next year we will centre our focus on the refinement of literacy and numeracy skills. Primary classes will benefit from weekly individual and small group support on identified areas of need. In our small community, we are fortunate to know our students well and are able to specifically target their learning goals.

Thank you and farewell to our Year 6 cohort. You have been exceptional leaders and excellent ambassadors for our College. Our students are what makes our school special, and you have let your light shine all year. Thank you to our 2021 Primary Captains, Abigail Walker and Matilda Woodhead, for your leadership and service to Clayfield College. It has been a pleasure to support your initiatives and see you grow in confidence this year.

I wish you all a restful and peaceful holiday season.

All students who have participated in Primary Sport this year will also be acknowledged.

Students are to wear their school uniform on the last day of term; however, they may add a Christmas accessory.

Attendance at the End of Year Assembly is for:

Year 6 Celebration Chapel

A lovely evening was shared last Friday as we celebrated our graduating Year 6 students. Families came together to acknowledge the girls’ completion of Primary schooling and reflected upon the past seven years. Thank you to Mrs. Hodgson and Ms. Francis for helping organise the Chapel service. Thank you, also, to Mrs. Wyer for arranging such a lovely gathering with light refreshments in the Lower LRC.

Class Placements 2022

Class placements and information will be communicated in the New Year once enrolments are finalised.

Uniform Swap

Thank you to everyone in our College community who supported our inaugural Uniform Swap. It was wonderful to see families trading items no longer needed for desired new pieces. It was heart-warming to watch Primary students moving into Secondary swapping used jumpers for a formal winter hat, and Pre-Prep families trading tiny tracksuits for new formal dresses.

The money raised from the Uniform Swap will go towards shipping costs to transport uniform and stationery items to four Fijian schools. A special thank you to Charlotte Reichard, Tanith Shaw, Teresa Heinemann, Remi Heinemann, Beatrice Peters and Bianca Waters for their assistance in organising this initiative. Thank you, also, to Brent Pickering, for his assistance in making connections with the Fijian schools.

Class Coordinators 2022

The Friends of Primary group is getting prepared for next year, and we are interested in hearing from any parents and carers who would like to volunteer as a Class Parent Coordinator for 2022.

Please contact Teresa Heinemann at teresaheinemann13@gmail.com if you would like more information about what is involved, or to express your interest.

We would love to see many new faces joining the Friends of Primary group!
