From the Deputy Principal

Mrs. Audrey Fellowes - Deputy Principal - Head of Primary

On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of welcoming Hugo (Year 1) and Alegria (Year 3) as Head of Primary for the day. I enjoyed my day where I was able to “step down” and give responsibility over to Alegria and Hugo. They had meetings with Dr. Cousins, Mrs. Mohan and other Heads of Department, discussing important issues in the Boardroom and offices. Their assistance with award presentations in the Andrews Cup Assembly was appreciated and enjoyed by all. As a special initiative driven by Alegria, they kindly presented Primary teachers with Learner Profile certificates highlighting the special attributes of our staff. Both students said they had a fantastic day, with one of the highlights being served a drink of water (in proper glasses) by Mrs. Wyer in the Head of Primary office. Please find a message from Hugo and Alegria below.

Head of Primary for the Day

From Hugo and Alegria

We are so excited to have been Head of Primary on Tuesday, this week. In late Term 3, the Primary School held a short film festival with the theme of Connection. Our movie was titled 'The Robot Connection'. We planned our scripts and came up with our scenes for the movie. After lots of filming and organising costumes, we were ready to film. We just didn’t make one video, it was many videos put together. We were so excited and happy when our film won the overall prize – Head of Primary for the day. This is why you are reading an article in the Clayfield Collective by Alegria and Hugo Heinemann!

In 2021, Clayfield College has had a great year, we were flexible with snap lockdowns and reflective by thinking back on our learning. This year, our school had the exciting news of going co-educational. We are looking forward to welcoming boys to the Secondary School in 2023.

This year we had so many sports and musical opportunities. In our girls Andrews Cup, we participated in Swimming, Cross Country, Athletics, Netball, Touch, Football, Basketball and Gymnastics. In particular, achievements, Swimming, Basketball and Gymnastics all came back with some lovely silver trophies for our cabinet. Our boys participated in Cricket, Touch and Football in the Britton Shield. Next year, we are so happy to add Swimming, Aquathon and Cross Country to this list, with a Britton Shield Captain selected for 2022.

In Music we have had our regular music lessons, engaging in fun singing and musical activities. Our Piccolo Choir is a Years 1 to 3 Choir and they have had several performances throughout the year, like Opus 1 and Opus 4. Our Campo delle Voci Choir participated in many performances also, like the recent Christmas Carols Service.

Clayfield is proud to have many talented band and string players. These make up our amazing Primary Band and Strings Orchestra. These two very talented groups of musicians performed on Primary Presentation Day.

Our Primary Presentation Day was a great success. Most students were involved in musical performances and everyone participated in the singing of the finale –“Try Everything”. Everyone did a great job on Primary Presentation Day.

Thank you for a wonderful year.

Merry Christmas and Good Luck next year.
