Drama

Written by Jay Bowen

With school holidays fast approaching, the Aladdin cast has spent the last two Fridays engaging in rehearsals to get a head start on more regular rehearsals in 2022. Students have been engaging in some improvisation exercises to help them create the busy souk (marketplace) that is so central to the world of Agrabah and the story of Aladdin.

It was wonderful to see the students work so quickly in applying what they have learnt in Drama this year regarding following their instincts, responding in character and improvising upon different realities.

Preparations are well under way for the Year Six Graduation! Year Six students are furiously working behind the scenes and additional to their studies to refine their presentations and create a well-crafted and unforgettable ceremony.

Finally, Bungaree Drama Extension students will be showcasing their hard work via this very newsletter, with a different student reciting a monologue that they have learned every week. This week, Johan Gorapalli from Year Four would like to bravely go first, performing a piece from the powerful Australian play Conversations With the Dead by Richard Frankland. Please enjoy Johan’s considerate and nuanced work.
