As we navigate through the last few weeks of Term Four and 2021 things are full steam ahead! Dance is flat out working to the timeline and deadlines to make sure everyone is ready to finish this year off with a BANG!
Christmas Carol songs and routines are coming together so well! Students and teachers have been working together as a team being creative and coming up ideas they’d like to include in their performance, making their songs uniquely different and their own! We have collaborated at times to mix it up a little and incorporate suggestions students would like in their routine. This has helped build and strengthen teamwork, team bonding, goal setting and achieving those goals, confidence, as well as being risk takers in their individual and team actions, with everyone supporting each other along the way! This has been very refreshing to see in each class especially after the year they’ve had away from each other at school! The Year Six students performing at graduation have been working hard on their dance performance. Rehearsals have been fun yet challenging at times with the routine providing different elements for the students to work with. Transitions, formations, canon work, shapes, angles, different timing and musicality for different groups while dancing at the same time, speed in choreography, execution in performance and deliverance, have all been key factors we’ve been working on to help deliver the best dance performance for a Grade 6 graduation. The message behind the performance is a positive one reflecting the outcome of this year and the strength to survive, persevere and carry on despite what has come our way. The students have been committed and disciplined in their focus and actions throughout rehearsals, and I know they will definitely represent themselves, their family’s, fellow classmates, and Saltwater to the highest level! VSSS rehearsals have finished as the students are all set to go for filming very soon. We are filming this coming week and the final edit will be up on the school Youtube link for everyone to see soon! The students have been amazing, focussed, and prepared, yet patient as we navigate the right time to film in amongst all the other rehearsals happening! A huge thanks to all students for their commitment and staff also for their support! The Year 4, 5 and 6 assembly dance has unfortunately been temporarily put on hold for now due to all that is happening but we are still keen and eager to get the students together to film soon! They’ve done an amazing job and we look forward to bringing that to light for you all soon! Aladdin rehearsals are underway and in strong form with the Dance, Music and Drama departments all working together to create the atmosphere and insight of the what the show is all about. Students are working on their characters, the movement, back story and dance that surrounds it and brings it all together! This helps it even more so with the choreography as we shape and set the cast for what will be an amazing show to hit our stage soon! We are all excited to share this magical journey with you soon!
