Tiny Sparks WA

Last Thursday an email was sent to all parents and carers with details about our involvement with the above organisation.  We are hoping to give a large donation of the following personal items: toothbrush, toothpaste, travel sized shampoo, conditioner and hand sanitiser, roll on deodorant, hand cream, lip balm, face wipes, ear plugs and eye masks.  Other items they are seeking are A5 note books, picture books for children and play dough.

Our involvement has come about as one of our parents, Brianna Sacker, was helped by Tiny Sparks WA, when her first born son, Richie, was born premature in 2015.  This is Brianna's story:

My premature birth story started early on a Saturday morning.  Not even 12 hours earlier I had started my maternity leave from my job.  Long story short, our first born son, Richie, was born prematurely at 34 weeks of gestation.  We spent 1 week in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unite (NICU) and 3 weeks in the Special Care Unit at KEMH.  Throughout my time there we were supported very well in a time of need by Tiny Sparks WA.  So my way of giving back to the premature baby community was to become a volunteer for Tiny Sparks WA.

It is with this in mind that the Marangaroo Community is being asked to get behind Tiny Sparks WA with a donation drive.  We will also be holding a "Go Purple for World Prematurity Day" on Wednesday 17 November.  We will be asking students and staff to dress in purple to bring attention to the cause and to help further educate.  We will not be asking for a gold coin donation for this free dress day.
