Principal's Update

Paul Clohesy

Dear families,

I would like to congratulate all of our students for their efforts throughout what has been a challenging school year.

During the last week of classes for Year 7 – 10 students we held presentation assemblies to recognize student achievement. Students were recognized in all areas of the Trinity Difference Model - Skills, Knowledge and Character. Each subject teacher awarded a student in each of their classes with a Skills, Knowledge or Character award.

In addition, each homeroom teacher gave a Character award to one student in their homeroom. The total awards for each student were calculated and added to any additional academic achievements the student may have received.

The student with the highest number of awards was then declared the winner of the Trinity Difference Award for their year level.

This same process occurred with our Year 11 & 12 students. The Year 11 award ceremony took place on their final day of classes and Year 12 students were presented with their awards as part of their Graduation ceremony.

Our inaugural Trinity Difference award winners for 2021 are:

              Year 7 – Mia Compton

              Year 8 – Lily Fountain

              Year 9 – Zara Walker

              Year 10 – Amaia McCallum

              Year 11 – Yingru Qu

              Year 12 – Jennifer Roache

These awards were announced to students and staff this year and will be presented with their awards at our Commencement Assembly at the beginning of 2022.

VCE results

VCE results were released today and I wanted to provide a summary of these to our families. Firstly, I would like to congratulate all of our scored VCE students, it has not been easy for them trying to complete their final two years during a pandemic and there is no doubt that being face-to-face with your teacher provides students with the best opportunity to succeed academically.

Despite all the lockdowns and remote learning, it is pleasing to announce that almost every student who applied for a university course achieved a score that will result in them being offered a place in one of their preferred courses.

This year we had four students receive ATARs of 88 or above and 15.4% of students received an ATAR of 80 or above. 24.6% of students scored between 70 and 80 and 16.9% were between 60 and 70. Overall 56.9% of students achieved ATARs over 60.

Our College Dux for 2021 is Jennifer Roache with an ATAR of 88.45. Following very closely behind Jennifer was Nadene Brown – 88.4, Olivia Spears – 88.25, Saul Kavenagh – 88.1 and Bridie Murphy – 87.8.

No individual student can ever be defined by a number and all students need to be congratulated for their efforts. Our staff are available at school or via email or Teams message at any time to provide support and advice to any student who needs it.

I wish you all a happy and safe Christmas and holiday and look forward to, what is hopefully, a normal school year in 2022.

Early Christmas Gift: Mick Scanlon received his $10,000 voucher from Ball and Croft Betta Home Living as the major prize winner in our Christmas Raffle. I was joined by Heather and Paul from Ball and Croft at the handover. Mick said he was unsure what the voucher would be used on, but said he was sure his family could help him decide. Thank you to everyone who supported our raffle - businesses, families, staff and the broader community.
