Year 8 Geology and Aboriginal Studies Days

On Tuesday the 30th of November and Wednesday the 1st of December, our Year 8 students participated in two excursion days.

The year 8 cohort was divided into two groups with one group attending Tower Hill, where they got to experience boomerang throwing, bush foods and learned about life at Tower Hill before and after the volcanic eruption.

The second group went to the Mt Elephant Centre, where they learnt about life in the South West, how Mt Elephant came to be and walked to the top of Mt Elephant to see the amazing views of the South West.

Then they went on to the Mt Shadwell Quarry in Mortlake, where they were armed with hammers and were able to fossick for Olivine and the ever elusive gem peridot!
