Principal's Message

Dear Parents, students and the wider community,

Last Sunday 21st November a number of our Year 4 and older students receive their First Eucharist at 2.30pm. It was a beautiful ceremony, the students looked great, contributed well with their readings and other roles and I'm sure made the parents and families very proud. Many thanks to Fr Martin for a lovely, reflective Mass and Mrs Thomas again for her great organisational skills both before and on the day.

On Tuesday our Year 5/6 classes lead a level Mass and we celebrated the first Sunday of Advent. Our time of waiting and preparation has begun! We had a bit of a surprise when we got down there, a juvenile brush tailed possum had let himself into the Church and made quite a mess. He managed to stay quiet for the mass while in plain sight. Sadly Mark Oakman was asked to help remove him later in the day and he has severely injured himself breaking his femur. Please keep Mark in your prayers.

For those that were part of Book Day last Friday it sounds like it was a wonderful parade and day afterwards. Sadly I missed the parade but I did see most of the costumes and some pictures so I am very aware of all the work and creativity that went into them. Congratulations to you all and Mrs Brooking in particular for her seemingly never ending energy and organisational skills.

For the Prep parents 2022 we  had our 'Welcome to St Anne's Dinner' on Tuesday night. This was again a highlight in helping to establish positive home/school relationships right from the start of many of the family's journeys through St Anne's. Thank you to those families who were able to attend as well as Miss Eagling, Mrs Winduss, Mrs Carr and Mrs Thomas for their attendance. The Prep 2022 parents and children will have another chance to gather socially on Monday 29th November when they have their annual Teddy Bear's Picnic in the Park.

Next week on Tuesday 30th November many of our Year 3 students will have Reconciliation with Fr Martin which is the second of their Sacraments after Baptism. I look forward to sharing this special time with them.

Next Friday 3rd December is a massive day for our students with House Athletics in the first block, our annual Lapathon in the second block. This is to assist our local chapter of St Vincent de Paul to raise funds towards supporting those in need for Christmas. In the afternoon the children will do some Jump Rope for Heart activities. I think we should all pray for a nice, clear day!

In other news I have some both sad and happy news to share with you. Yesterday, Mrs. Gill Carr informed me that she has been appointed as the Deputy Principal of Our Lady of Fatima, Rosebud for 2022. Though I have enjoyed watching and supporting her grow into the wonderful leader she has become, she is certainly going to be a loss to our community. She has been an absolute blessing to our students, families and her peers and those who have had Gill teach their kids or guide them through choir would recognise her many wonderful qualities. Her promotion is our loss but is certainly going to Rosebud's gain!

God Bless You All
