VCE/VCAL Early Commencement

The VCE/VCAL Early Commencement program has been in full swing since 22 November. Students have had an array of experiences, opportunities to broaden their horizons and a range of interesting guest speakers. Recently, the students held a sausage sizzle fundraiser to raise money for the RSPCA. This project included negotiating and finalising details of the activity with appropriate teachers, organising the practical aspects of it such as shopping, collecting the products and being organised as a team on the day. The students also collected numerous pet care items for the RSPCA and would like to thank the community for their support of this fundraiser. During Early Commencement, the students also enjoyed a ‘City Sights’ excursion in the CBD organised by the Yr 12 students for the Year 11s. The assessment task includes developing a series of challenges, clue sets and specific instructions. They also travelled independently by train or tram and on foot. The students also benefitted from hearing guest speakers from the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and from the WPC Group who specialise in apprenticeships and traineeships. The students were also able to help Mr Ganci with an environmental project.

VCAL and VET Award Winners

Congratulations to our Year 11 and 12 VET and VCAL students, Shelby Harrington, Luke Schultz, Kaitlyn Harris, David Angove and Julian Torres, who were successful in obtaining a Hume Whittlesea VET, VCAL or School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship Award for their vocational study achievements undertaken in 2021. These awards recognise and award students excelling in vocational education in our local schools. They aim to promote the importance and relevance of vocational education and training pathways and celebrate the students’ engagement and achievements within their chosen fields. The awards are based on the student’s results, attitudes and achievements, are nominated by their schools and are endorsed through recommendations from employers, teachers and work placement coordinators.

Congratulations award winners!
