Junior School Report

We are very thrilled to have our Year 7-9 students return to onsite learning in recent weeks. The return of our students has been generally smooth and supportive. The students have enjoyed reconnecting with their classmates and their teachers in person. The teachers have been really pleased to be back in the classroom with their students.

To support the students to readjust back to learning and mixing again at school, the different year levels have conducted a number of supportive and fun activities for the students such as Wellbeing activities and House activities and every class teacher has approached the return to being back on campus in a supportive and caring manner. With the students’ wellbeing in mind, we have cancelled the Semester 2 exams for Year 7-9 students so they can focus on re-engaging in face to face lessons and not have the additional stress of studying for exams.

Recently we have called for applications for student leaders for 2022. We are excited to read all of the applications and shortlist for interviews. Congratulations to all of the students who applied. It takes courage to ‘put yourself out there’ and apply for positions of responsibility, so well done! Hopefully 2022 will be a little less turbulent that the previous two years, which is the perfect opportunity for students to get stuck into their leadership role and make a difference to the school community.

We encourage all students to embrace the opportunity of being back in class to fully engage with their learning by living out the 5P’s; Being Prepared, Present, Proactive, Productive and Persistent.

With the last extended lockdown, we are aware that some students fell behind with their school work. As such, we will be running a 'Study Hall' in Week 8 (22nd-26th Nov) during lunch time and after school to support students in catching up on their major assessment tasks before they move into Head Start (which starts in Week 9). We encourage students to submit these assessments prior to Week 8, however if they still require support to complete the overdue tasks, they will be placed in Study Hall where they will be provided with supervision and support to complete the assessment tasks.

These last few weeks of Term 4 are most important for re-establishing good routines and learning habits, building and consolidating learnings of this year’s key skills and understandings in order to be as best prepared as possible for next year’s studies.

We encourage all students and parents to seek assistance from their teachers or team leaders regarding any issues of concern so we can support a positive learning experience now we are back on site.
