Our annual Awards Assembly was held in the college gymnasium on Thursday 18th November. As a school community, we have always enjoyed celebrating the achievements of our students each semester with family and friends. Unfortunately, once again this year, due to restrictions and COVID guidelines, we were unable to do this. However, our tech-savvy IT staff live-streamed the event on YouTube, which enabled us to have just the awardees in the venue while the rest of the school, as well as families, watched the proceedings remotely. Thank you to Kevin, Andrew, Tynan and Naseer!
Nearly 150 students across Years 7-11 were recognised and applauded for their achievements in the areas of sport, debating and leadership, applied learning, as well as excellence in the academic field. Congratulations to all award recipients, who should be very proud of their accomplishments this year! Anita Soghmayan, Deziah Fogalele, and Jorden Khauv captivated the audience with their amazing musical talents, and the 2022 School Captains were fantastic in their conduction of the entire assembly!
Below is a summary of the overall results:
Westall Secondary College students will commence their 2022 classes on Monday, 29th November and will be following their new timetables. Year 11/12 classes will run for one week, finishing on Friday 3rd December. Year 8-10 Headstart will run until Friday 10th December.
Attendance during the Headstart period is compulsory. Students are required to attend in full school uniform and with all required equipment (with the exception of textbooks), to enable their full participation in classroom activities.
Year 11/12 VCE students will commence course material and work towards their first assessment. They will be issued with holiday homework, which must be completed and submitted to subject teachers on their return to school next year. Headstart will enable a seamless transition from one year to the next, providing students with a substantial understanding of the requirements in all subjects.
It is the time of year that parents and students look forward to, namely, the Semester Two Reports! Staff and students have been busy completing assessments and preparing feedback. Reports will be available in Compass on Monday 13th December. As per the last few semesters, please note that the report provides an indication of the Learning Behaviours demonstrated by your child this semester, as well as a summary of the Learning Task grades; detailed feedback on assessments is available in the individual learning tasks in Compass.
If you have any issues in accessing your child’s report or with any aspect of the report itself, please contact the General Office on 9546 3233 by Thursday 16th December.
The re-enrolment process for all students returning to Westall in 2022 will once again be completed online. Families will receive an email in the next two weeks, which will contain information and instructions that need to be urgently actioned. Email attachments will include current enrolment details, which must be carefully checked, updated as needed, and, returned via email or as a hard copy to the office.
Also attached will be the following documents:
If you have any questions regarding the process or need clarification on the instructions, please contact the office on 9546 3233. In the event that your child will not be returning to Westall next year, a letter must be forwarded to the appropriate sub-school as soon as possible.
First day back for students is Monday 31st January 2022.
Wishing you a safe and restful summer break!
