Principal's Message

Dear Parents, students and the wider community,

Welcome Kadu

Kadu is 9 and a half and trained as a guide dog when he was a puppy. He didn't pass however at 13 months old as he couldn't ignore the corn chips in his final test. This is a habit that is continuing at school where any crumb is eagerly wolfed down. Once a Labrador, always a Labrador. Kadu has been regularly visiting the classes where he is receiving a lot of love from the children. I know the children will miss Bridie almost as much as Mrs Trickey but hopefully they will enjoy having Kadu around a few days each week. I think he may need to stay home somedays because he will need a rest from all the cuddles and pats he receives.

We have commenced the return of classes to school and it truly is a joyous thing. I am guessing you may be having some tired little people at home as they navigate a full day at school and the need to re-negotiate friendships. I'm sure you won't mind if they are off to bed early as long as they are not too scratchy with their family interactions.

Students are welcome in the yard from 8.30am. They will move inside at 8.50am. The classes who are rostered on will go straight to their classrooms from a very quick line up. The students who are here because they are required to be due to essential work or other criteria, as previously advised, will go in through the sliding doors in the new block and begin their day in the Italian/Music room. Masks are required to be warn inside by our Year 3-6 students from the Victorian Health authorities and are also recommended for the junior students.

At this stage parents are allowed outside on-site at drop off and pick up but please adhere to the usual Covid safe practices. I look forward to seeing you all face-to-face.

All students return to on-site schooling Friday 5th November

There is no Staff Retreat on the 28th and 29th October before Cup Weekend as was advised earlier in the year. We need our students back at school with their teachers so this has been moved into Term 1, 2022.

A reminder that with the partial return of classes from Week 3, Monday 18th October all students on-site are to be in full uniform. As we are a Sunsmart school sunhats are  required for students this term please. I also imagine with increasing humidity and warmth that mosquitos will be about quite a bit. Please ensure you apply repellent before the day. With school required to have increased airflow there will be more windows open allowing for more of them to also be inside.

Please note Monday 1st November is a School Closure Day for Reporting and Tuesday 2nd November is Melbourne Cup Day.

We are having a lot of interest from families wanting to go on tours to potentially join our school. Obviously I can't take tours at this stage. Equally some of our current families may have changed family circumstances and will be looking to move on from St Anne's at the end of the year. Can you please let me know if it is likely your family will be moving on as we will soon be looking at classroom allocation of students for 2022.

God Bless You All
