It’s that time of year again! Don’t forget to bring your hat for sport and PE classes. Hats and sunscreen are encouraged for students and staff outside when the UV rating is 3 or higher. This can occur even on cold or cloudy days!

The free SunSmart app tells you when sun protection is recommended and shows current UV levels. During the day's sun protection times, use all five SunSmart steps for the best level of protection.

  1. Slip on sun protective clothing
  2. Slop on SPF 30 (or higher) sunscreen and re-apply every two hours.
  3. Slap on a hat that protects your face, head, neck and ears.
  4. Seek shade.
  5. Slide on sunglasses.

SSV is looking for Student Leaders!

  • The design and development of new physical activity initiatives and programs in school sport
  • Making the school sport experience enjoyable and welcoming for all students
  • Knocking down the barriers to sport that are often experienced by students
  • Showing us how and telling us why Victorian students want to be engaged in school sport
  • Ensuring that a safe and enjoyable environment is provided for all students to participate in school sport regardless of their fitness, experience, or skill level.

If there is a student at your school who you think might be suitable to join the Student Leaders Group please visit this page of the SSV website.

During the remote learning period, Lalor Secondary College held their own COVID-19 Strava running club of which over 85 students and staff were involved in. The weekly leaderboard encouraged healthy competition and everyone battled it out for positions in the top 10 for the week. Everyone that was involved in the group was eligible for house points for their involvement, with the top 20 runners being awarded additional points for their efforts.
