Catholic Identity

All Saints’ Day - 1st November

Each recognised Saint has his or her own Feast Day, but on All Saints’ Day, we celebrate all the saints together, both those who are known and those who are unknown by us who are still on Earth.

As we celebrate all those who are in Heaven, let us remember that we are called to one day join them.

All Souls Day - 2nd November

All Souls Day is when we remember those who have died; family, friends, colleagues, or anyone who we have known and has died. We pray for them and remember them with love, celebrating in faith their journey to God, now within the great communion of saints.

October – The month of the Rosary

The month of October each year is always dedicated to the Rosary.   This is due to the liturgical feast of Our Lady of the Rosary being celebrated annually on October 7th.

Pope John Paul II called the Rosary his favourite prayer, in which we meditate with Mary upon various scripture.  “Mary treasured all these things and pondered them in her heart.” (Luke 2:19)

World Mission Month – October

At St Brendan’s Primary School, we support two Catholic organisations each year as part of our Social Justice missioning towards others -Caritas during Lent and usually Catholic Missions during October.

However, as many families from St Brendan’s have suffered their own hardship during the time of the Covid Pandemic.

It has been decided that a greater focus needs to be on prayer for Catholic Missions and the work they do around the world, supporting communities of people in need.
