JUNIOR SCHOOL NEWS

Steve Quinn

Junior Sub-School Manager

It seems like the most eventful and yet the least eventful term of all. Lockdowns have taken from us many regular opportunities we have to engage in our college community and yet we have been creative, innovative and supportive in efforts to overcome the obstacles we have faced. A big thank you must be given to all the members of our Junior Sub-School family. Students, teachers, families and friends who have contributed to the college maintaining as much normality as it can across this term. Here are some of the great things that have been happening lately:

During remote learning, maintaining our usual high standards in the classroom and conducting ourselves in accordance with our matrix of expected behaviours can be very challenging. However, time and time again students step up to this challenge and there are many individuals leading the way. Below are lists of the students who, in recent weeks, have received the highest number of positive feedback entries on Compass acknowledging their hard work and effort in all things aligned with our College expectations. Congratulations to you all and keep up the fantastic work.

Progress Reports

The week 8 Progress Reports were recently released and, if you haven’t already, we strongly recommend you look through the report with your child and discuss successes and areas for improvement. A big congratulations must go to Dean Smilevski who achieved the perfect average score of 4 across all of his subjects. Further recognition must be given to the students listed below who achieved an outstanding average score of 3.9 or above. You are all to be commended for your commitment to your studies even in the challenging circumstances we find ourselves in, well done!

Lockdown Challenges

During remote learning the college has been facilitating various challenges for students and staff to attempt in an effort to provide some enjoyment and laughter while stuck at home and support our communities social and emotional wellbeing. Thank you to all of the students for getting involved and supporting the idea, it has proven to be an eventful and entertaining venture. It reminded me of this time last year when, in the Junior Sub-School, we were running weekly challenges for similar reasons and the below picture was submitted and subsequently won the ‘Best picture of Mr Quinn’ competition. Well done again Claudia Katny; I still love it!

Safe Holidays

I would like to thank all the members of our Junior Sub-School family once more for your support and efforts this term. It has been so very challenging but working together we have made it through with smiles still on our faces. I hope you all enjoy a well-deserved break, get to spend time with your loved ones and stay safe. See you in Term 4!
