Year 9 and 10 Science

Year 9

This term the Year 9 Science classes have been investigating the properties of atoms and elements of the periodic table. They have learnt about how our understanding of elements have evolved over time. Here are some images of the “flame test” that was done in our classes last week, where students heated up compounds and witnessed a dazzling array of colourful light emitted. They learnt how subatomic particles called electrons can move around atoms and release light when heat is applied.

Year 10

This term in Year 10 Science we have covered motion and Newton’s Laws. The students have been working hard learning about the physics of motion; more specifically, Newton’s three laws of motion. They are now hard at work revising and completing their examinations.
