End of Term

As we reach the end of another term, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the wonderful achievements and growth we have witnessed in students across the school. I am often delighted by the way students make the most of the opportunities afforded them at Shelford and this term has certainly been no exception. Whether in the classroom or through the multitude of co-curricular activities on offer our students have worked hard, nurtured their passions and, in some cases, discovered new talents and interests.

It is often said that relationships are at the heart of our community, and throughout the term, I have enjoyed watching students continue to navigate and develop their friendships. It has been particularly pleasing to watch the way new students have been welcomed to the Shelford community.

I would like to express my gratitude to all parents, and guardians, for your ongoing support and collaboration. Your involvement and engagement play a vital role in creating a positive and nurturing environment for our students. As we enter the holiday break, I hope you have the time to rest, rejuvenate, and spend quality time with your loved ones. If you are lucky enough to be travelling, safe travels.

Student Leadership

Towards the beginning of Term 3, we will commence the Student Leadership process for the Class of 2024.

All current Year 11 students will be addressed about the Leadership application process and timeframe as part of the Wellbeing Program. Following this interested students will attend an after-school Leadership Preparation Session, prior to the submission of applications. This session will be held on Tuesday 25 July and will be repeated on Thursday 27 July. Attendance at one of these sessions is a pre-requisite for students wishing to apply for a Prefect or Captaincy role.

I look forward to providing further information about the Leadership process next term.

Student Safety

The safety and wellbeing of our students is paramount. We ask that all parents please do the following when collecting students at the end of the day:

  • When possible, please park further away from Shelford and walk up to Hood Crescent for student collection.
  • Where appropriate, please encourage students to walk/bike/scooter/take public transport to school.
  • If your daughter is in Junior School, please collect her from the JS gate (Gate 3) not from across the road.
  • If your daughter is in Senior School, please do not double park in Hood Crescent. Following pick-up, please continue driving slowly (less than 40km,) with an awareness of the Junior School gate, to ensure the safety of Junior School parents and students crossing Hood Crescent.
  • Please do not park in the staff car park, Church grounds or the Doctor’s surgery car park.

Thank you in advance for your support of these measures which will help to ensure the safety of our students and their families at the end of each school day.
