From the Head of Sport

This weekend we have a big day at home with boy’s football and rugby both having home games.

BMGS Basketball will be running a BBQ to raise money for their trip to Nationals in November. Players please see Mr Quilter to put your name on the roster for the canteen and the BBQ.

Thank You

Last week we held the annual BMGS Athletics Carnival. The day started with sunshine however it did not take long before the weather deteriorated. Despite the weather, I was pleased to see the enthusiasm shown by the majority of students.

This day would not run without the efforts of staff and parents. This year we had many parents step in to run events, record, time keep and judge. I would like to thank you all for giving up your day to volunteer at the carnival.

Staff, whilst not necessarily your favourite day of the year, thanks for your positive attitude and professionalism in getting your events run efficiently.

Congratulations:  Mountain Biking

Following on from last week's Newsletter, last Saturday Oliver and Lucas Rutherford, and Thomas Sheen competed at the 2023 NSW/ACT CX Series Round 2 at Sun Valley.

Oliver had a close race but managed to maintain the lead to win the U17s event (which coupled with the Men’s C division and came first overall).

Lucas and Thomas Sheen competed in the U13s and placed first and second respectively. It was Thomas’ first time competing at a bike event.

The Illawarra Schools Mountain Biking Championships will be held on Friday, 18th August. Please come and see me in my office if you are interested in attending.

The ACT Schools Mountain Biking Championships will be held on 22nd September if any students are interested in attending.

House Sport

House sport will be held on the last day of Term 2 (23rd June). Please ensure you bring your books for Periods 1-3 and wear your sports uniform to school, including your House shirt.

Athletics Carnival

The ISA Athletics Carnival will be held in Term 3. The team list will be put on the noticeboard prior to the end of term so please ensure you check what events you have qualified for.

Dogs Onsite

This is a reminder that dogs are not permitted onsite unless they are service dogs. We have had a number of parents and students ignoring this rule of late. There are a number of signs as you come into the school to remind you of this. Thank you for your cooperation.

Saturday Sport Fixtures:  Saturday, 17th June
