Wellbeing and Pastoral

Trish Star

Dear Marian Community

As we begin Semester 2, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our returning students and those who are just starting with us. We are excited to be back in the classroom, and we are looking forward to a productive and successful term.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind all students of the expectations we need to uphold. It is the responsibility of each student to arrive at school on time, dressed in appropriate school attire, and with all the necessary materials for each class. We also expect our students to show respect to their peers, teachers and the school environment at all times.

In addition, we want our students to start the term off on the right foot. We understand that starting a new term can be challenging, but we encourage all of our students to set goals for themselves and to work towards achieving them. This is a great time to develop new study habits, to take on new challenges, and to work towards achieving their personal goals..

We are confident that this will be a fantastic term for our students, and we look forward to seeing them thrive and achieve their goals. Thank you for your continued support of our College, and I wish you all the best for the coming term.

Pivot Wellbeing Survey

Throughout terms 1 and 2 students participated in an ongoing series of surveys based on Wellbeing for Learning. Pivot have now analysed the responses to the surveys and provided the college with the results. Over the next few weeks Pastoral Leaders will be breaking this feedback down, looking at insights for each year level and seeing how they can act on this over the remainder of the year to provide an environment for our students that supports wellbeing for learning. Pastoral leaders will be working with their homeroom teams and in turn homeroom and classroom teachers will be looking at how they can impact wellbeing for learning.

Attendance

Over the remainder of the year I ask that you are mindful of your child’s attendance. Regular days away from school impact learning and wellbeing. Remember that an attendance figure of 80% means your child is missing, on average, one day every week. If you are aware of something that may be challenging your child’s attendance, please reach out to the relevant Pastoral Leader. Together we may be able to get things back on track.
