Term 2 Year 7 and Year 8 Sport

The Junior School students participated in their Term 2 Interschool Sports during the last couple of weeks of the term. 

Year 7 Soccer Boys had some tough matches to qualify for the Southern Metro Round and our Year 7 Boys Football dominated the competition, winning all three games by more than 60 points. Our Year 7 Girls Badminton team found success at MSAC and will return to compete in the Southern Metro Finals in August.

Our Year 8 Netball A Team defeated some strong competition at Gloria Pyke stadium and qualified for the next round. Year 8 Girls Soccer braved the cold to take the glory of the Beachside Round Robin. 

Netball wrap-up from Milana; 

Going into the day, we knew as a team that we were in for a very tough competition. After last year's very close game against Mentone Girls (our rival team) we had very high expectations for ourselves to make sure we beat them second time round! After a long day of four tough fought matches which we won, we made it to the grand final! And you wouldn't believe who it was against... Mentone Girls. We knew that we had to fight with everything left in us, and that's exactly what we did. The game felt like it went on forever, with the ball constantly switching between ends, and a lot of physicality and yelling!! Luckily for us after a lot of nerves, the game ended in our favour with a 1 point win! I'm super proud of the whole team for fighting until the end, and a massive thank you to Mrs Beames for coaching us during the day- we couldn't have done it without you!! Coming up in Term 3 Sport

With Senior Interschool Sport now concluded for 2023 it is a slow start to Term 3 Sport. This just allows us to take a breath before gearing up for the rest of the term, which is going to be very, very busy.

In Other Sport News

We have a Year 10 Volleyball Team who will be competing in The Volleyball Victoria Schools Cup. They are really looking forward to the event and we wish them well.

The Student vs Staff Championship commenced on Thursday 20 July with basketball in the gym at lunchtime, with the students taking the win.  The remaining events and dates are:

• 27/07 - Volleyball
• 03/08 - Futsal
• 10/08 - Table Tennis
• 17/08 - Netball
