Car Park Etiquette
Dear Parents/Guardians
We would like to emphasise the importance of taking great care in the car park, and some of the rules and expectations we have regarding etiquette in the car park. Indeed HCC is quite unique in that we actually allow parents to drive in to the school car park. Many schools do not allow parents to drive into the school car park, and you will often see cars banked up around the streets of schools at drop-off and pick-up time. As we have open access it is very important that parents adhere to the following rules and expectations:
- Strictly abide by the speed limit of 10km/h.
- Do not park in the disabled car park bays unless you have an official disability car parking pass.
- Do not stop, wait and drop off/pick up your child in the middle of the car park lanes. Not only is the dangerous, it blocks the flow of traffic.
- Obey the no right-hand turn sign on to Kingston Road during a specified time.
- Do not swerve around the speed bumps.
- Taking your time, being patient and aware of young children in the car park area.
We would particularly encourage families with Secondary students only to park on the block of land on Old Boundary Road and to meet your child there. This will assist with reducing car park congestion. We have supervised pedestrian crossings and gates in the fences for easy access to Old Boundary Road.
We have asked the staff on car park duty to politely speak to parents who are not following the expectations and rules of our car park. We trust that any request given by staff will be received in the spirit it is given, being ensuring the safety of our students in the car park.
