Western PSSA Cross Country

 

On Wednesday 14 June Harper, Patrick, Sebastian and Banjo all represented our school and the Cowra District at the Western Region PSSA Cross Country Carnival in Orange. All students ran very well in difficult conditions and represented our school and district proudly.

 

Congratulations to our runners - making Western Region is a huge achievement!

Western Cross Country Trials

 

Students from Boorowa Central School travelled to Orange on Wednesday to compete in the Western Cross Country trials. Congratulations to everyone who attended. Special mention to Mylee Taylor, Isabella Piper, Meghann Southwell and Imogen Pye who all received a place. Mylee and Isabella placed 4th, Meghann placed 6th and Imogen placed 3rd. These girls will go on to NSW All Schools in Sydney.

2023 NSW CHS Central Schools Southern Zone Open and U16 Touch Qualifying Day Boorowa  Thursday 1 June 2023 

 

Celebrating Victory: Boorowa Central School Touch Football Teams Triumph at the CHS Southern Zone Central Schools Qualifying Day.

 

We are proud to announce the outstanding success of our four Boorowa Central School Touch Football teams during the recent qualifying day against Braidwood and Coolamon Central. All teams demonstrated exceptional skills, determination, and teamwork, emerging as champions in the Southern Zone.

 

In the Open Girls category, our team exhibited their prowess by securing impressive victories. They first faced off against Braidwood, emerging triumphant with a resounding 4-0 victory. (Touch downs: Imogen 3, Lily -1) Their success continued as they went on to defeat Coolamon with a remarkable scoreline of 2-0. (Touch downs Bella -1, Imogen -1) Their dedication and coordinated efforts on the field were evident in every match, and their exceptional performance led them to the Southern Zone championship title.

 

Similarly, our U16 Girls team showcased their talent and determination throughout the day. They started their journey with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Coolamon. (Bella scoring our only try. Three other touchdowns occurred but were all short of the line. Undeterred by the challenges, they displayed incredible teamwork and strategic play, which enabled them to triumph over Coolamon once again, this time with a score of 3-1. The U16 Girls team demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship and skill, proving themselves as worthy champions.

 

The Boorowa U 16 Boys' team exhibited an outstanding display of dominance on the field. They began their campaign by overpowering Braidwood with an impressive score of 8-1. (Touchdowns Jacob K -3, Kyle-2 Tristen -3) Their skills were further tested in a closely contested match against Coolamon, where they emerged victorious with a nail-biting 3-2 win. (Touchdowns Jacob K -2, Tristen -1) The U16 Boys' team showed remarkable talent, tactical prowess, and teamwork, making them deserving champions in the Southern Zone.

Last but certainly not least, the Open Boys team demonstrated their mettle and emerged as champions. They faced Coolamon in a hard-fought match, securing a thrilling 3-2 victory. (Touchdowns Kyle-2, Max -1) Building upon their success, they continued their winning streak by defeating Braidwood with a commanding score of 6-2. (Touchdowns Kyle-2, Josh Kar -2, Taylen -1 Jacob K-1) The Open Boys' team exhibited exceptional skill, determination, and a strong spirit, resulting in their remarkable triumph.

 

We would like to congratulate all the players on their exceptional achievements and extend our gratitude to the coaches Ms Claire Johnson, Ms Imogen Pye, Mrs Ingrid Corcoran and Mr Andrew Corcoran and support staff who have worked tirelessly to guide and mentor the teams. Your commitment and dedication have undoubtedly played a crucial role in our team’s success.

 

We would like to thank the PASS class under the guidance of Ms Bromfield for organising the draw, scorecards and conducting the day. Also, the SRC members under the guidance of Ms Mahoney and Mrs Taylor for operating the canteen on the day. 

 

These victories not only reflect the talent and dedication of our students but also highlight the excellent sporting culture at Boorowa Central School. We are incredibly proud of our Touch Football teams and look forward to their continued success in the upcoming finals of the NSW Central Schools Touch finals to be held in Dubbo from the 28- 30 August Week 7 of Term 3.
